The Trauma of the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic continues to devastate the lives of millions of people, irrespective of their caste, race, religion, financial strength, and geographical location. This unprecedented humanitarian crisis continues to unravel the bitter realities of our social fabric and broken healthcare systems. The recent debates about the origin of coronavirus not only create panic but also instil fear and aggression in the minds and hearts of innocent people who are paying the price of doing nothing adverse to mother nature. The extent of the adversities is beyond imagination, and their repair will take ages. The traumatized people, piles of dead bodies, broken hearts, orphaned children, and hues and cries speak loudly about the hostilities suffered by the vulnerable humanity whose existence appears on the verge of collapse. The politicization of the pandemic, conspiracy theories, flawed information systems, religious hatred, and violence across the globe has lacerated the heart of humanity to an unimaginable extent. It's difficult to compare and analyze the damage caused by the pandemic and its intensification by incorrect policies, bigotry, inhumanity, and materialism. The tale of human devastation has its roots in history; however, the current narrative of Capitalism adds to the agony of impoverished communities who experience severe inequities across all walks of life.
